A cleaner spends the working day inside other people's homes and offices, which is the one place a ringing phone cannot be answered.
This is what a text-back does about the enquiries that arrive while you are working, what it will not do, and whether a cleaning business needs one.
Cleaning happens in a client's home or an occupied office, and answering a phone in either is awkward at best. So the calls arrive all day and get picked up almost none of the day.

This is different from a trade where the phone is in the ute. A cleaner is standing in somebody's kitchen while they work from home in the next room, or vacuuming a floor at six in the morning before an office fills up.
The equipment does not help either. A vacuum running is louder than a phone ringing, and gloves are not made for touchscreens.
The result is a business where enquiries arrive steadily through the entire working day and get returned in a block at night, by which time a fair number of them have booked somebody else.
Most people ringing a cleaner are ringing because something changed this week. A lease is ending, a baby is coming, a landlord wants a bond clean by Friday. They need an answer now, not tonight.

That urgency is why the callback rate is poor. By the evening the person who needed a bond clean has rung four cleaners and booked whichever one could confirm a day.
There is a second kind of caller who behaves the same way for a different reason. Somebody whose previous cleaner has just let them down is annoyed, in a hurry, and calling from a list.
A recurring domestic clean is worth its weekly rate multiplied by however long that client stays, which in cleaning is usually years. That is the number a missed call is against, not the price of one visit.

Commercial is larger again. An office contract is a monthly figure that renews quietly, and the enquiry that starts one is indistinguishable on the phone from a one-off house clean.
Owners tend to think about this in terms of the single job because that is what the caller asks about. The caller asks about Thursday. What they are actually deciding is who cleans their house from now on.
There is a genuine version of this where it does not apply, which is a cleaning business already at capacity and turning work away. If that is you, more enquiries do not help and this is not worth buying.
When a call to your number goes unanswered, a text goes back within seconds in your business's own words, saying you are on a job and asking what they need cleaned and when. They reply in writing and you answer it between clients.

What makes this work for cleaning is that the caller is almost always happy to type. They want to say it is a three bedroom house, it is an end of lease, and it has to be done by Friday, and that is easier written than said.
It also means the quote conversation starts from real information. Instead of ringing back and asking the same five questions, you already know the size, the type of clean and the date.
If you do one thing after reading this, count how many enquiries you returned after six o'clock last week and how many of those you actually won. The gap between those two numbers is what this is about.

A short text within seconds in your business's own words, saying you are on a job and asking what needs cleaning and when. It does not pretend to be you.
No. Cleaning is priced on size, condition and access, so nothing about price is sent. It gathers what is needed for you to price it properly.
Yes, and the value is usually higher, because a commercial enquiry is a monthly contract rather than a single visit.
Yes. It runs on your existing number, the account is in your name, and it all stays with you if you stop.
