Google Ads

Do Google Ads work for a small Newcastle business?

They can, when four things line up: people in your area are searching for what you do, a customer is worth enough to cover the cost of the clicks, the ad leads to a page about that exact service, and someone answers the enquiries quickly.

The short answer

In short.

When one of those is missing, the money goes on clicks that do not turn into work. The way to find out is a small, measured campaign, not a guess.

Is anyone searching?

Search ads only show when someone searches. If few people in Newcastle search for your service, the campaign will be small no matter the budget. Checking search demand comes first.

Is a customer worth enough?

Work out what a typical job is worth to the business, and how many enquiries usually turn into a job. That tells you what you can afford to pay for an enquiry.

Does the ad lead somewhere useful?

The ad should take people to a page about the service they searched for, with an easy way to call or enquire. Sending every ad to the homepage is a common reason campaigns underperform.

Are enquiries measured?

Conversion tracking records agreed actions, such as a submitted form or a phone call. Without it, you cannot tell which searches bring work.

Are you answering?

The fastest response often wins the job. Ads that bring calls nobody answers are wasted spend.

Keep out the wrong searches

The search terms report shows the words people actually typed before seeing or clicking your ad. Negative keywords exclude the ones you do not want to pay for. Google explains how to set and manage what you spend.

An approved, active campaign can start reaching people quickly. The number and quality of enquiries depend on demand, competition, budget, the offer and the page.
