For Newcastle businesses holding two very different quotes
Two quotes for the same job come back thousands apart, and the number is settled before anyone designs anything.

Since it went live my phone hasn’t stopped ringing.
He created a stunning website for us that captures and nurtures leads with an automated email marketing system, which has filled a huge gap in the business and saved a lot of time (and money!).
Reece has been generous, reliable and knowledgeable in creating an online presence for our sporting club. He is good to work with and has good technical abilities.
How much does a website cost in Newcastle depends on who builds it, and the spread is wider than most owners expect. The same five page site gets quoted under a thousand dollars by one business and over seven thousand by another.
The bands below are what Newcastle businesses are really quoted. They come from published prices and from real quotes for a real local job.
Four bands cover almost every quote in Newcastle, and each one is a different kind of thing rather than the same thing done better or worse.
Under a thousand dollars buys a template with your details in it. So does eighty to a hundred a month with nothing upfront. Read the monthly one carefully: you are renting the site, and stopping the payment takes it down.
Two to four thousand is where most small Newcastle businesses land. That is a custom five to eight page site, built once. Hosting after it runs about thirty to forty dollars a month.
Three things move a website quote, and none of them is the design. How many pages there are, who writes the words, and whether the site has a job to do beyond being read.
Pages are the obvious one. A quote is built page by page, so eight service pages is eight lines on it and three is three. Every extra service page is also a page Google can send somebody to.
The words are the part owners underestimate. A quote that assumes you supply the copy is cheaper on paper and then sits unfinished for months, because most owners never get round to writing eight pages about their own business.
Anything the site has to do rather than say moves the number again, whether that is taking payments, taking bookings, or talking to software you already run.
A website quote is normally half up front, so the questions worth asking are the ones about what you are left holding if the work stops.
Ownership is the one that costs most when it is wrong. The domain, the hosting and the site should sit in your own name, so a disagreement later is inconvenient rather than the end of your website.
A cheap site nobody finds is the most expensive one on this page. It costs the money, and then it costs the work that never arrived.

Page count, who writes the copy, and whether the site takes bookings or payments. Two quotes are rarely for the same scope.
It is cheaper to start and more expensive to keep. It also means you are renting: stop paying and the site comes down, and you have nothing to move.
Hosting is about thirty to forty dollars a month. The domain is a small yearly fee. Updates are either included or charged by the hour.
Only if the domain, the hosting and the site sit in your own accounts. Ask before you pay: moving a site you do not own is the expensive version.
