The short answer

In short.

Google's guidelines say there should only be one profile per business, and not more than one for each location, whether in one account or several. A business with genuinely separate locations, each with its own staff, can have a profile for each. Some departments and individual practitioners, such as a doctor or lawyer within a practice, can also have their own.

The rule

Google's guidelines for representing your business say there should be one profile per business, because more than one causes problems with how information displays on Maps and Search.

More than one location

If you have separate premises, or separate service areas with separate staff at each, you can have one profile per location.

Service-area businesses

A business that travels to customers has one profile for its central office, with a service area set. It cannot list a virtual office unless that office is staffed during business hours. Google says the service area should not extend beyond about two hours of driving from where the business is based.

Practitioners and departments

Individual practitioners, and departments within larger organisations, can have separate profiles in some cases. Each has its own rules, so check before creating one.

Why not one per service?

A separate profile for each service, at the same address, is one of the ways Google identifies duplicates. Duplicates do not show on Search or Maps. The better route is one profile with the right categories and a complete services list.

Why not one per suburb?

A profile at an address you do not operate from breaks the guidelines and risks suspension. To be found in nearby suburbs, the work is the profile, the website and your reputation.
